Larry Leonard Fischer was born on January 24, 1932 to Alfred and Emma (Ludemann) Fischer. Larry was born in Mills, NE and went to school there until high school when his folks moved into Bassett, NE. In high school, Larry loved his sports playing baseball, football, and basketball. Larry married Ardelle Potratz on November 23, 1950 in their living room. To this union, three kids were born Nickie, Allen “Butch”, and Ben “Russell”. They lived on the ranch until 1973 and Larry loved every minute of it. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren participate in all their sport activities. When he wasn’t ranching or watching sports, Larry served on the church council many times and even helped dig the basement for the first Lutheran Church in Bassett in the 1950s.
