Larry L Fischer

January 24, 1932 — January 3, 2024

Larry Leonard Fischer was born on January 24, 1932 to Alfred and Emma (Ludemann) Fischer. Larry was born in Mills, NE and went to school there until high school when his folks moved into Bassett, NE. In high school, Larry loved his sports playing baseball, football, and basketball. Larry married Ardelle Potratz on November 23, 1950 in their living room. To this union, three kids were born Nickie, Allen “Butch”, and Ben “Russell”. They lived on the ranch until 1973 and Larry loved every minute of it. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren participate in all their sport activities. When he wasn’t ranching or watching sports, Larry served on the church council many times and even helped dig the basement for the first Lutheran Church in Bassett in the 1950s.

Larry reunited with Ardelle in heaven on Wednesday morning, January 3, 2024 at the Rock County Hospital Long Term Care in Bassett.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Emma Fischer; brothers, Lyle and his wife Glenna, and Roger; and sister, Carol June and her husband Lyle Gordon. He is survived by his daughter Nickie and husband Larry Buell of Long Pine, NE; sons, Allen “Butch” and wife Deb, and Ben “Russell” and wife Lisa, all of Bassett; eleven grandchildren; Shelby (Jarod) Steenson, Devon Buell, Brandon (Micheal) Buell, Clay (Kayla) Fischer, Kari (Jason) Anderson, Corby Fischer, and Lucas (Amanda) Fischer; 13 great-grandchildren, Treyten (Kourtney) Ruhl, Ashly (Levi) White, Jaya Nelson, Ty Nelson, Kyle (Emily) Jackman, Keian Fischer, Karley Anderson, Branson Anderson, Isley Fischer, Wyatt Fischer, Harlee (Lance) Fischer, Leighton Fischer, and Hudsynn Fischer. Larry was blessed with one great-great-grandchild, Cru Moore. He is also survived by his sister, Marlene (Ted) Johnson of Rapid City, SD; and a sister-in-law, Ione Fischer of Bassett; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other family and friends.
