Kathleen L. McFarlin

Kathleen “Kat” McFarlin was born to William and Mary Lee (Edwards) McFarlin on March 22, 1953 in Des Moines, Iowa. She passed away Sunday, December 17, 2023 at the Kearney Regional Medical Center in Kearney, Nebraska at the age of 70 after a short illness.
Her first love was the arts, and she actively pursued singing, writing, playing music, and painting.
Kat was well known for her generous nature and warmth. Her ready smile and positive personality powered her through her darkest times. Even the wonderful ICU team who was with her through her last sudden illness remarked on her joyful attitude.
She was a mother who continually sacrificed for her daughter. She was an artist who saw the beauty in the smallest creations. She was a devoted pet lover, who never met a dog or a cat she didn’t want to help. She was a devout Catholic, whose faith meant everything to her.
She will be missed, but never forgotten. Thank you, Kat. For everything.
Kat is survived by her daughter, Kathryn Pearce and Kathryn’s fiance, Duane Littau of Portugal.

Funeral Services were held on Friday, December 22, 2023 at the St. Pius X Catholic Church in Ainsworth with Father Mike Wetovick as Celebrant. Music was provided by Nichole Flynn with the songs, “Be Not Afraid,” “One Bread, One Body,” “On Eagle’s Wings” and “Amazing Grace” being sung. Interment followed in the Ainsworth Cemetery. Instead of monetary gifts or flowers, donations were suggested to the Holt County Animal Shelter, or Live-Love-Wag Program of Ainsworth in Kat’s memory.
