FaDonna J. (Hower) Goodnight age 90 of Long Pine, Nebraska passed away at the Rock County Hospital Long Term Care Center in Bassett, Nebraska on January 6, 2022, with her family by her side. FaDonna was born to Morris E. and Lauvera P. (Lingle) Hower on January 18, 1931, in Lucas, Kansas.
In 1948, she married Jack E. Hoke and they were blessed with three sons: Jon, David and Terry. They divorced in 1973. Jon went off to KU for studies, and David and Terry moved to Hays, Kansas with their mother.
FaDonna started studies at Fort Hays State University. The first couple of years involved basic studies. In 1976, she started Nursing School. She graduated in 1984 with her Master’s Degree in Nursing.
In 1985, she married Donald R. Goodnight. At the time Donald was living in Washington state. Donald already had three girls from his first wife: Diane, Julie, and Rebecca.
In 1996, they moved to Long Pine, Nebraska and built their dream retirement home overlooking Long Pine Creek. FaDonna loved to sew and enjoyed quilt work as well. She helped with other events in the community. She was also a member of the St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Bassett. She was immensely proud of this church as she was there when the church was remodeled.
FaDonna was preceded in death by her parents, Morris and Lauvera Hower: ex-husband Jack Hoke; and husband, Donald Goodnight and a brother, Orlin J. Hower. She is survived by her sons, Jon J. Hoke of Overbrook KS, David S. Hoke of Kent WA, and Terry Hoke and husband Vincent Lanas of Long Pine; Donald’s daughters: Diane Goodnight and husband Nick Allen of Huntington Beach, CA, Julie Thueringer and husband Martin of Kent, WA, Rebecca Goodenough and husband Gene of Granite Falls, WA along with seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial Service was held on Saturday June 11, 2022 at 1:00 PM in the St. Mary’s Episcopal Church at Bassett with Father Randy Goeke as Celebrant. Music was provided by Mike Skulavik with the congregation singing the songs, “Seek Ye First” and “Amazing Grace.” A Private Family Inurnment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been suggested to St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in FaDonna’s name. Hoch Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements and condolences may be left online at
