Eunice M. (Townsend) Wulf

December 2, 1924 — March 10, 2023

Eunice Marie (Townsend) Wulf was born on December 2, 1924, at Albion,
Nebraska and went to her heavenly home on March 10, 2023, at the age of
98 years while residing at Azria Senior Home in Gretna, Nebraska.
Eunice was the fifth of six children born to Royal and Augusta (Kruse)
Townsend. She attended District 17, Valley Grove School, for eight years with
her siblings where her sister Ioline became her eighth-grade teacher. Her previous school is now part of the museum at Rock County Fairgrounds in Bassett, Nebraska. Eunice attended Rock County High School where she graduated with the Class of 1942. Following graduation, she attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln for several summers, eventually teaching school in rural Nebraska for seven years.
On August 27, 1949, Eunice married Warren Wulf of Ainsworth, Nebraska. From this union was born a daughter, Mary Ann, on October 8, 1963. While Mary Ann was growing up, Eunice was involved in the 4-H Club, and served as a Girl Scout Leader. She volunteered to be an Elementary room mother for several of Mary Ann’s grade school classes. She worked as a bookkeeper and secretary for her husband’s business Wulf Electric
Eunice was a long-time member of the Ainsworth United Methodist Church. She attended early church services regularly for many years before moving into an Assisted Living Facility. She truly enjoyed the coffee and fellowship time. Eunice was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Young at Heart church circle. Eunice enjoyed her Monday and Wednesday coffee groups. She especially enjoyed her many bridge clubs. Eunice also enjoyed decorating for all the holidays. Warren and Eunice liked to travel, enjoying bus trips where they met many friends. They also enjoyed square dancing with their friends at the Square Dance Club. Her husband Warren passed away December 29, 2007. They were married 58 years. Eunice moved into Cottonwood Villa Assisted Living in August of 2014.
She actively enjoyed participating in all the activities there and made many new friends.
Eunice was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her sister Ioline
Cleveland, and brothers Gordon, Wendell, James and Robert Townsend, brother-in-law Everett (Ioline) Cleveland, sisters-in-law Helen (Gordon), Charlotte (Wendell), Judy (James), Helen (Robert), nephews Gene Cleveland and Chuck Townsend and niece Loretta Gwynn. She is survived by her daughter Mary Ann Thompson, boyfriend Mark Penrod of Gretna, granddaughters, Moriah Reuss and husband, Dr. Andrew Reuss, great grandchild Benjamin Reuss, and Maysie Thompson fiancé Kevin Baughman all from Omaha; along with several nieces, nephews and other family members.


Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, April 1,2023 at 10:30 AM at the Ainsworth United Methodist Church with Pastor Martin Leeper officiating. Music was provided by Mr. & Mrs. Danny Bennett singing “Bringing In The Sheaves” and “I’ll Fly Away.” The Congregation sang “Amazing Grace” and “How Great Thou Art.” Inurnment followed at the Ainsworth Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the family in her name. Hoch Funeral Home of Ainsworth is in charge of the arrangements. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.hochfuneralhome.com .
