OBITUARY OF DOUGLAS DUANE “BUGGY’ WALTON
Douglas Duane "Buggy" Walton was born February 26, 1952, to David R. and Esther F. (Zillig) Walton in Scottsbluff, NE. He was one of eight siblings. Doug passed away at the age of 74 at Sandhills Care Center in Ainsworth, NE on May 3, 2026.
Doug graduated from Ainsworth High School. He worked as a janitor for 25 years at Ainsworth Community Schools. Doug also bartended and worked at the old Phillips 66 gas station. Doug was married three times to Joan Stillwell, Cindy Mitchell, and Margaret Stamp. Out of the three marriages, he had five children and two stepchildren. Doug enjoyed watching sports, doing word search, spending time with his grandkids, and when he was younger, he bowled in a league and played softball. He also liked catching up with friends.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents, David and Esther; brothers, Gary Walton, Don Walton, Rick Walton and Larry Walton; sisters, Dorothy Mead and LeAnne Moore; sons, Gary and Gerry Walton and brother-in-law, Bill Moore.
Doug is survived by his children, Tami (Brian) Ulibarri of Ainsworth, Justin (Tina) Walton of Birmingham, IA, and Andrew of Ainsworth; stepsons, Damian Stamp and Daniel Mizner and their families of Ainsworth; sister, Margaret (Mike) Switzer of Blythewood, SC; sisters-in-law, Judy Walton of Ainsworth and Bev Walton of Kearney, NE; grandchildren, Austan Walton of Kearney, Dallas Ulibarri and Sean Ulibarri of Ainsworth, Kaylie (Andrew) Allen of Norfolk, NE, BreAnna Walton and Annabel Walton of Birmingham; along with nieces, nephews, and other family members.
A Graveside Memorial Service was held on Tuesday, May 26, 2026 in the Lutheran Cemetery near Ainsworth. Pastor Lynn Christensen officiated at the event. Memorials were suggested to the family for a future designation. Hoch Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements and condolences may be left for the family at www.hochfuneralhome.com.
