Mr. William H. "Bill" McCall

William Herbert "Bill" McCall was born on December 29, 1932 at Ainsworth Nebraska to John H. and Ethel Rae (Fournier) McCall of Rose, Nebraska and passed away on December 15, 2013 at the Parkside Manor in Stuart, Nebraska.
He grew up on the family farm and attended grade school at Dist. 72. He graduated from Rock County High School in 1951. Bill entered the army in 1953. After basic training, he was stationed in Germany and was honorably discharged in January of 1955. Following his discharge, he continued employment on area ranches in Rock County. He returned to the home place to live until he retired in 2005. Bill enjoyed the outdoor life and working with animals. He continued to live there until October of 2013 when he suffered a stroke. He was hospitalized at the Rock County Hospital and then transferred to the Kearney Good Samaritan Hospital, then came to live at Parkside Manor in Stuart.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Beverly Rinehart, and brother David McCall. He is survived by brother, Richard McCall, sister-in-law, Ardene McCall, nieces and nephews along with other family members.
Funeral services were held on December 19, 2013 at the Bassett United Methodist Church with Pastor Rod Heilbrun officiating the service. Special music selections of "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Amazing Grace" were offered by JoAnn Swanson and Stanley Larson. Along with a congregational selection of "In the Garden." Pallbearers were, Duane Swanson, Harry Swanson, Dale Caskey, Don Knorr, Dale Sybrant and Verle Kreitman. Burial was held at the Bassett Memorial Park Cemetery with Military Honors presented by the Bassett American Legion Post #123. Memorials were directed to the Bassett United Methodist Church or to the family for future designation. Hoch Funeral Home of Bassett was in charge of the arrangements.
