Mr. Simeon A. "Al" Turner Jr.

January 15, 1941 — September 14, 2018

Simeon A. “Al” Turner Jr. was born to Bessie L. (Hayes) and Simeon A. Turner Sr. on January 15, 1941 in Yuma Colorado. Al never knew a stranger he would talk to everyone and anyone. He was known for his love of children, telling jokes, singing songs, riding horses, and working with cattle. Al made his living working feedlots and on ranches in Colorado and Nebraska. In his younger days he rode bulls and drove semi.
From his first marriage, he fathered four daughters: Janey, Robin, Cindy, Arla and son Jim. Al’s marriage to Rosetta added two step children, Harold and Rojeana and three daughters Roseanna, Rosella, and Roslyn.
Al resided at Parkside Manor Nursing Home the last two years. While there he became their official “self appointed welcome wagon.” He could be seen with his sidekick Miss Riley the dog, singing to the staff, or over seeing Jake the maintenance man with his projects. He would be bragging to everyone that would listen about his grandkids. Al lived a life to match his personality, large and full of fun.
Al is preceded in death by parents and two daughters, Robin Fritz and Arla Yount. He is survived by his wife Rosetta Turner; children: Janey McPherson of Elk City, Oklahoma, Cindy Hinds of Pampa Texas, Jim Turner of Pampa, Texas, Rosanna Franklin (Bill) of Curtis, Nebraska, Rosella Turner of Jamestown, Ohio, Roslyn Turner-Clark of Bassett, Nebraska. Stepchildren: Harold Helms (Stacy), of Sterling Oklahoma, Rojeana Helms (Kevin) of St. Louis, Missouri; Grandchildren DJ, Tony, Shawn, Wendy, Trent, Jimmy Ray, Justin, Chris, Chelsey, Denie, Stacy, Shannon, Jennifer, Ashley, Nick, Samantha, Katy, Charlie, Carey, Melissa, Stephanie, Charton; 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; Sisters, Bonnie Salisbury (Ruddy) of Fort Morgan, Colorado, and Shirley Turner (friend, Stan Minnion) Cambridge, Nebraska; Brother, Jerry Turner (Liz) of Denver, Colorado.
Graveside Memorial services were held on September 19, 2018 at the Bassett Memorial Park Cemetery with Pastor Wayne Owens officiating the service. Special song selections of “Silver Wings” by Merle Haggard, “This Cowboy’s Hat” by Chris LeDoux, and “The Auctioneer” by Leroy Van Dyke. Honorary bearers were residents, staff and Miss Riley at Parkside Manor. Hoch Funeral Home of Bassett was in charge of the arrangements. Memorials were suggested to the donor’s choice.
