Roger W Keisler

EULOGY WRITTEN BY LISA KEISLER

Roger W. Keisler was born on October 4th, 1968 at Lexington, SC and was taken from us much too
soon, on June 4th, 2022 at Ainsworth, Nebraska. There is so much that has happened between
those two dates, and there is simply no way I could possibly reiterate the life Roger led today. Roger was born to Elliot “Ed” and Vonnie (Goff) Keisler, and grew up in Lexington, SC. He was the youngest of three siblings. These are Randy and Steve both of Lexington, SC. Roger was a jack of all trades, he loved his life, his wife, Christopher and his late son BJ, his brothers, and his nieces but most of all I believe he loved being a Papa. When Roger came of age, he decided to become a mechanic, these skills he learned from his dad and on the job. He graduated from Lexington High School in 1984, and soon found work at Jim’s Junkyard as a mechanic. He worked there for four years, and then went to Guindard Bricks, where he made bricks for houses and also worked as a mechanic for five years. He then began working at nuclear plants. When they shut down nuclear plants, he would go in and break down the motors. His last job, before moving to Nebraska to be closer to Christopher, Michell and his grandkids, was at Michelin Tires for 15 years. In 1986, Roger met and fell in love with Lisa K. Praye. Their love story was one for the ages. They dated for 20 years and finally married on December 16th,
2006. They were married for 15 long and happy years. If I could describe Roger to you in only a few short words, they would be kind, loving, considerate, funny, and hard working. He lived life to the fullest, and wasn't afraid to show the world who he really was. Some of Roger’s favorite activities revolved around working on cars,
putting model cars together, fishing, and reading his Bible. The wonderful thing about Roger was that he didn't live for just himself. Helping others, brightening other people's lives also brought Roger much joy in his life. He was always helping and encouraging others. Roger was a very loved person, he knew many people and many people knew him, from family and friends to doctors and nurses. Roger made friends everywhere he went. We all have many wonderful memories of Roger, too many to share and not nearly enough time to. But I cannot share these few special memories. with you, ones that we will forever hold in our hearts. If you knew Roger you knew he had a fear of mice and snakes. Lisa shared a story from when they were cleaning up the yard of Roger's parents, and they went to move debris and a bunch of mice went running out from under it and he started screaming like a little girl. She also shares a story of when they moved to Nebraska. They had a cat
named China. She would bring snakes into the house. She remembers a time when China had brought a snake into the house and he had both of his feet on the couch yelling “Lisa come get these snakes!” While talking with Roger's brother Steve, he said that he and Roger would spend a lot of time out Clinton Sease’s pond fishing together. I asked Kimberly, Roger's niece, if there was a memorable time that she would like to share. She states ”Gosh there is a couple I don't know how to really word it but he sat with me and laughed and talked for 22 hours at the hospital while having my first child until he was born." Playing cards with Lisa and Roger and my dad when I was younger or just sharing me and my kids like I were his own on Facebook and always telling me he loves me and that he is proud of me.” I had messaged Rogers other niece, Jennifer, daughter of Randy and
Terrie. Jennifer had shared this, “We were only eight years apart, so I remember him bringing his boombox down to my house, this was in the 80’s, so it was the height of the Michael Jackson craze. He had the thriller
album and we would listen to it and dance and try to do the moonwalk, He always treated me with kindness and not like a little kid who was bugging him.” At this time I would like to share Roger's favorite bible verses. I think it really goes to show just the type of amazing person he was and it shows exactly how Roger went through life: Matthew 11:28-30 “Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn of me for I am meek and lowly in heart, and ye shall find rest unto your souls, for my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Roger is survived by his wife Lisa and son Christopher and his wife Michell all of Ainsworth, his mother Vonnie Keisler, his brother Randy and his wife Terrie of Lexington, SC, and his brother Steve all of Lexington, SC; nieces Kimberly Taylor and Jennifer Wilson both of Lexington, five grandbabies, and other family and friends from all over. Roger was preceded in death by his son BJ, and his father Elliot “Ed” Keisler
and his mother in law Diane Moore. In closing, I want to thank you all once again for being here today with
myself and my family as we celebrate Roger's life. Finally, I want to say thank you to Roger. You were such a special person to so many, and your legacy will live on in the beautiful memories you leave for all of us. Lisa was
telling Moriah that you always talked about seeing the grandbabies get married and start a family and now you wont be here to see those milestones in their lives but I believe that you are going to have the greatest
seat in the house, watching from above and cheering them on through life. Thank you Roger for being a hero to them and to all of us. We will always love and remember you, and cherish all the memories we had together.
