George G. Brock

May 31, 1944 — July 8, 2022

George Goffery Brock, 78 of Raymond, Mississippi passed peacefully on July 8, 2022 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, Mississippi, with family by his side. George, first child of John Edward and Bernadine E. (Trent) Brock born on May 31, 1944 in Taylor (Loup County), Nebraska. George grew up on the Shovel Dot Ranch in Rose, Nebraska, where his family engaged in ranching for many years. He always said it was the best time of their lives, where hunting and fishing was in abundance, with a little work in between, of course. A Saturday night swim in the “crick” made for a refreshing trip to Bassett, Nebraska 35 miles away. George graduated from Rock County High School in Bassett in 1961. George was drafted into the United States Army, in June of 1965 at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. In April 1966, he was sent to Cu Chi, then onto Tay Nign, Vietnam for one year, being honorably discharged in April of 1967. George proudly attended various ceremonies, remembering and honoring all those who fought before and after him. He was a very proud Vietnam Veteran and was active in the VFW. In George’s pass time, he got interested in and enjoyed working on his genealogical tree and the “Brock Family History.” He did an extended amount of research on the Brock family with great history information which was shared with all his family and was prideful of his family’s history. George was united in marriage to Nancy K. (Siegrist/Freeman) on May 30, 1981. Together they reconstructed their families, living in Lincoln, Nebraska at first, where he drove a truck for Consolidated Freightways (CF). Later, moving to Beaver Crossing, Nebraska for a short time until CF relocated him to Edwards, Mississippi. George loved the south; appreciated the warm summers and tolerable winters and found it to be a great place to raise a family. George received multiple, consecutive Safe Driving awards over the years which he was very proud of. After retiring in 2005, George and Nancy moved to Lincoln, Missouri to be in a central location of both families. George and Nancy were married for almost 39 years before she unexpectedly passed away March 4, 2020. After the loss of Nancy, George moved back to Raymond, Mississippi to be close to and help his youngest son. Planting beautiful flowers and feeding his birds was a high point for him. However, he did not enjoy those stinking squirrels that always got into his bird feeders.
George is survived by his son, John William Brock of Omaha, Nebraska, grandchildren, Johnnie and Chole; daughter, Wendy (Brock) and Andy Znamenacek of Grand Island, Nebraska, grandchildren, Gaven, Jaden (great grandchild, Azalea), and Caleb; son, George and Amber (Barnette) Brock Jr. of Raymond, Mississippi, grandchild, Aubrey; son, Donald and Mary (Clayton) Freeman of Ozark, Missouri, grandchildren, Krislyn (great grandchildren, Christian, Landon, Faith-Hope and Zaine), Dustin (great grandchild, Shae) and Casey; son, Gary Freeman of Lincoln, Nebraska; daughter, Sally (Freeman) and Mike Williams of Winter Park, Florida, grandchild, Jackson Freeman. He also leaves behind a sister, Sharron K. (Brock) Jones and friend Ralph Hoxworth of Alliance, Nebraska, nieces, Colette (Darrell) Johnson, Jessica, Paige, and families; Serena (Eric) Bremer, Jon and Daniel Marquez; and Tammy (Felix) DuBray, Shaina (Braxton) Brass, Seth and Trevor DuBray; his brother John E. and Kay (Friese) Brock of Alliance, Nebraska, niece and nephew, Chandra (Heath) Krug, Dalton and Jaiden; and Shawn (Kathy) Brock, Kel Underwood; along with a host of many cousins and wonderful friends, who all held a special place in his heart. George was preceded in death by his wife Nancy, parents John and Bernadine Brock, nephew John E. Brock III and his step father Casey Graham and other family members.
