Donald R. Stevens was born in Waukegan, Illinois on November 19, 1946 to Harold and Rachel (Hart) Stevens. Donald spent 4 years in Waukegan before moving to the Ainsworth/Henderson area. He attended Ainsworth public school. Donald work at a variety of jobs including the Lincoln Railroad Junk Yard and Aren’s Sanitation.
He enjoyed watching television, doing crossword puzzles and word search puzzles.
Donald had been a resident of Alpine Village Retirement Home in Verdigre, NE. since December 30, 2015. The staff became his friends and his family. He enjoyed teasing the workers and participating in the special activities of the day. Donald passed away at Alpine Village on December 30, 2019.
He is survived by two brothers: Gage of Franklin, NE. and Danny of Lincoln and an uncle, John Hart of Hooper.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Rachel and sister, Susan.
Funeral Services were held on Thursday, January 9, 2020 at The Church of the Nazarene in Ainsworth with Pastor Russell Thayer officiating at the service. Music was provided by Kathy Bennett providing the songs, “Amazing Grace” and “The Old Rugged Cross.” Memorials were suggested to The Nazarene Church. Hoch Funeral Home of Bassett was in charge of arrangements and online condolences may by left at www.hochfuneralhome.com .
