Corby S. O'Hare

December 3, 1948 — December 24, 2022

OBITUARY OF CORBY STEVEN O’HARE
Corby Steven O’Hare, age 74 was born on December 3, 1948 at Ainsworth, Nebraska to Kenneth W. and Ruth E. (Day) O’Hare. He died on December 24, 2022 at the CHI Health Nebraska Heart Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska at a result of a ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm.
Corby spent his formative years in the bosom of the Sandhills at the family ranch south of Johnstown, Nebraska. During this time he was fortunate enough to grow up around friends and family living the good life. Corby began his schooling in Johnstown followed by Ainsworth High School where he excelled, if not participated in academics and sports. After graduation he left Ainsworth to pursue academics at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and soon after headed south to the University of Houston where he graduated with a Masters in Pharmacology.
Along the way he met many friends who later became known as part of the family. Most importantly he met Jan Turpin. Jan and Corby were married May 19, 1979. Shortly after their marriage, Corby was called back to the Sandhills with the prospect of partnering up with his father and brother to work the family farm and ranch operation.
And so this life continued. During this time he and Jan raised four children. The oldest JD, twins Scott and Patrick, and Alyx being the youngest. He mostly enjoyed watching his kids take part in activities, especially when that was Jan’s Choir. His children participating in one of his wife’s choir assemblies was a source of great pride and joy for him.
Later in life he found immense amounts of joy spending time with his six grandchildren, as he was able to watch them learn and grow. Corby was joyous and loved to be around friends and family, his many nieces and nephews, his kids and especially his grandkids. He would always swell up with pride at any one of their accomplishments, no matter how small.
Corby was adamant that his service not be considered a somber occasion but rather a joyous celebration of his life.
Corby was preceded in death by his wife, Jan; his parents, Ruth and Kenneth; mother-in-law Leona Turpin; brother-in-law Dick Turpin, and brother-in-law Mike McNally. He is survived by his four children and their families: JD and his wife Theresa of Homer Glen, Illinois, and their children Jacob, Jace and Tori; Scott and his wife Megan of York, Nebraska, and their children Stella and Henry; Patrick and his wife Lacey of Lincoln; and Alyx of Omaha, Nebraska and her son Liam; brothers and sisters: Doug and wife Linda O’Hare, Cindy McNally, Becky O’Hare, and Tod and wife Sue O’Hare all of Ainsworth; a sister-in-law Reenie Turpin of Lincoln and sister-in-law LaNita and husband Bob Maurer of Columbus, Montana; as well as many extended family members and friends that all meant the world to Corby.
