Betty L. (Moody) Lofquest

April 18, 1924 — March 28, 2013

Betty L. Lofquest was born April 18, 1924 in Newport, Nebraska to Daniel B. and Sara Francis (Alderman) Moody. She died March 28, 2013 at the Rock County Hospital in Bassett, Nebraska at the age of 88. Betty graduated from Newport High School in 1942. She attended Wayne State College where she obtained her teaching certificate, later teaching school in Rock and Holt counties. During WWII, she worked at the Samsonite Factory in Denver making bomb casings. It was afterward that she met Alvin 'Bud' Lofquest of Stuart in 1947. Son Charles was born in 1948. Bud made a career out of the Air Force. As a military wife, Betty continued to work as a substitute teacher wherever Bud was stationed. In 1959, daughter Dora was born in El Paso, Texas. After retiring, Betty moved to a cozy spot three miles east of Ainsworth. Here she pursued her hobbies of sewing, gardening, and enjoying 4-H functions.
Betty is survived by son Charles of Niceville, Florida; daughter Dora of Ainsworth, Nebraska; grandson Justin Lofquest and great-grandson Charles Patrick of St. Louis, Missouri, granddaughter Jennifer Strayer of Bloomington, Indiana; brother Bob Moody of Denver, Colorado; sister Ina Mae Yarges of Omaha, Nebraska; sister-in-law Evelyn Moody of Ainsworth, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on April 2, 2013 at the United Methodist Church in Ainsworth. Graveside services were held at the Cleveland Cemetery north of Stuart. Pastor Eldon Davis officiated at the service Prelude music was provided by Sherry Campbell and Jennifer Strayer. An instrumental selection of "Beyond The Sunset" was provided by Sherry Campbell along with congregational selections of "His Eye Is On The Sparrow" and "How Great Thou Art." Casket bearers were: Brad Moody, Don Moody, Matt Moody, Roger Moody, Mike Davis and David Lane. Memorials were suggested to the KBR 4-H Scholarship. Hoch Funeral Home of Ainsworth was in charge of arrangements.
