Mr. Steven E. "Steve" Hapner

November 17, 1946 — May 24, 2018

Steven Eugene Hapner was born on November 17, 1946 in Richmond, Indiana to Lloyd Eugene Hapner and Doris (Hewitt) Hapner and passed away on May 24, 2018 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney after suffering from a weak heart.
Steve enjoyed cooking, gardening, bird watching, fishing, vacationing with family, playing board games and cards with family and friends. He taught Junior High Sunday School at the United Methodist Church, was a member of the American Legion, was an active member of the Ainsworth Lions Club, and worked at Red and White Deli giving lollipops to all the children. He spent many years in law enforcement in Brown County.
Steve is survived by his wife Linda (Deaton) Hapner of Ainsworth; his father, Lloyd Eugene Hapner of Eaton, Ohio; brother, Charles Hapner and wife Nancy of New Paris, Ohio; two sisters-in-law, Donna (Deaton) Elliott of Eaton, Ohio; and Sarah (Deaton) Ward and husband James of Lewisburg, Ohio; his three sons, Donald Eugene Hapner of Lincoln, Nebraska, Gregory Allen Hapner of St. Joseph, Missouri, Brian Ray Hapner of Ainsworth; three grandsons, Jashua Chaicoj, Dominick Hapner, and Anthony Hapner all of St. Joseph; two granddaughters, Shaylene Marie Hapner of Denver, Colorado and Kadeja Linda Hapner of The Gambia, Africa; nieces, nephews and other family members.
Funeral Services were held at the United Methodist Church with Pastor Mick Thornton, and Pastor Gary Graesser officiating the service. Music was provided by Sherry Campbell and Lisa Wiebesiek. Special music provided was, "In The Garden," "Borning Cry," and "Hymn of Promise". The CD selection of "Angels Among Us" was also provided. Special memories were shared from family and friends. Pallbearers were, Donald Hapner, Gregory Hapner, Jashua Chaicoj, Dominick Hapner, Anthony Hapner and Brian Hapner. Burial followed at the Ainsworth Cemetery with Final Call was given by Brown County Sheriff Department, as well as Military Honors being presented by the Ainsworth American Legion Post #79. Hoch Funeral Home of Ainsworth was in charge of the arrangements. Memorials were suggested to the family in Steve's name.
